The Authentic Language Nerd

As a teenager, I corrected all the spelling mistakes I could find during the tour of my soon-to-be middle school. That is how passionate I am about my native language.

After high school, I enrolled in a preparatory course for speech therapy which allowed me to master the subtleties and idioms of the French language.

I graduated from ESTRI, School for International Careers in Lyon (France) with three diplomas in my pocket:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Translation and International Relations
  • A bachelor’s degree in Languages Applied to Business (in collaboration with the Université Lumière Lyon II)
  • A master’s degree in Specialized Translation and Community Interpreting.

The Restless Globetrotter

There is more to translation than putting words into a magical brainy oven and baking them into the right language. Without culture, languages would not be what they are. It is essential for your translator to have accurate knowledge of the cultures that formed the languages they work with.

I have lived and worked in Canada and Spain. Next stop: Japan! Not only does living abroad improve your linguistic skills, but it brings a better understanding of the environment and culture that originated the texts I work on.

The Pun Wiz & Creativity Expert

There is no such thing as a “supertranslator”, capable of handling all kinds of content at the same level of quality.

Expertise is what allows your linguist to improve through continuous professional development and offer a near-native experience of high-quality texts.

My specialty? Slogans, songs and jokes!

Let me write for you content that will convey emotions to your audience.

F.A.Q.

It will depend on various factors, which is why there isn’t just one price:

If you are on a tight budget, it is possible to use an automated translation tool and perform what we call MTPE (Machine Translation Post Editing).

However, you need to be careful:
– This process is not relevant for all kinds of content, especially creative ones (machines don’t understand figurative speech or irony);
– You will always need a human translator to review an MT’s work because this type of technology is not powerful enough to deliver a high-quality translation (machines don’t always choose the right meaning of a term depending on the context).
